Unable to stand by as governmental red tape prevented aid from reaching citizens in Louisiana and Mississippi, one family jumped into action. Within hours, David Perez and his wife Orly accomplished the following:

With the assistance of local volunteers and the generosity of local Southern California small businesses, the foundation secured 250 homes, 24 cars, and over 210 jobs for evacuees.
With the generous help of the Merced County, California Sheriffs helicopter team on location in Gulfport, Mississippi, 5 days after the storm airlifted David Perez on an emergency mercy flight where he delivered insulin and financial assistance to families in urgent need while roads were closed and they were isolated from federal, state and local relief agencies.

America has been awakened!
Aid is still urgently needed, especially as the hurricane
fades in the public’s memory as yesterday’s news, but not in the difficult
reality of day to day life for those trying to rebuild their shattered lives.
