Heartbeats in the aftermath of Haiti Earthquake

From: Michael Regan
Subject: Thank you for the successful flight
Date: Monday, March 01, 2010 11:55 AM

David/Albert/Marianne,

I just wanted to send a quick note thanking you for all the effort, good faith, and funds that you put into last night’s flight. I know you made a lot of children and parents very happy. The readout I received from the Embassy is that things went smoothly at the airport in Port au Prince. I hope those of you on the flight had a chance to spend a bit of time with the children and those parents who were on board.

Very best regards,
Mike Regan, US Department of State

“David, I just wanted to thank you and your donors for the fantastic planeload of medical equipment and medicines you sent to us. We have just unloaded the equipment at the IsraAID encampment within the Israel Defense Forces camp here in Port au Prince. Some of the items are already in use and others will be going into service in the coming days. Any equipment that our team cannot use will be transferred to a hospital or other appropriate facility. Thanks again for all your efforts. The Haitian people need it badly.

“Located an army base feeding 40,000 people daily but they only have enough food for today. Food and water are priorities right now. The army is begging us to help. Amputations daily with no meds. Situation dire. We were woken up by beautiful singing about God and we ran off to find the church. 40,000 people were lined up at 4 waiting to be handed the smallest bit of food to last them the day... The team saw over 2,000 very infected patients today. Dehydration and many health problems are exploding all over. There is so much to do. We have seen over 5,000 patients in the last few days and it's a tiny drop in the big bucket.” – Medic Alison Thompson in Haiti– Medic Alison Thompson in Haiti

Heartbeats in the wake of Hurricane Katrina

Dear Mr. Perez,

I just read an article about your wonderful act of kindness towards the victims of Hurricane Katrina. May God continue to bless you and allow you to prosper. To whom much is given, much is expected. Trust me, you will be given a lot more in this life, materially and spiritually, due to your compassion and concern for your fellow man. I hope you make billions off of your drilling expeditions, because you understand the meaning of sharing your blessings.

You are my personal hero!

Dear Mr Perez:

The world has been watching you too and what a phenomenal example you have been to us.

I am a physician who retired early due to the red tape of practicing medicine.  Just like Katrina legal issues in medicine prevent us from truly helping and treating our patients. When I saw the red tape needed to give lifesaving care to people whose lives were measured in the minutes brought me to tears. I called the Red Cross as I am a skilled professional with 20 years in the operating room.  I was told to donate money.  What?????????? I  thought she was crazy.  I worked all those crazy days and nights in the OR ---- Don't those doc and medical staff need relief?????? They told me I would have to be processed etc, etc., etc. What nonsense at a time like this you take what is offered to you and turn away nothing as this situation will need a superhuman amount of resources ESP food, clothes, water and manpower.

The point of this letter is to tell you that I cannot put in words the great respect that I have for you.  You pushed past the walls placed in front of you and changed the lives of people who are deserve a second chance.  I am truly in awe of you.

I fell that you should head a stargazer type of organization who provides humanitarism and compassion for different disasters that occur in the USA.  I know from living in the Sarasota Florida area  and going through many hurricanes it is the people not the government that provide most of the needs of the people. I know a private organization could much easier  organize whatever is needed in a disaster and do it quicker and more efficiently.

If you ever decide to please sign me up to help in any way I can.  And, thank you again knowing the country has a person like you in it makes it easier to sleep at night. I hope to meet you some day as there are truly few people in your life that truly affect you---- you have done this to me.  You have inspired a nation to wake up and start caring for each other.

Sincerely,

Please extend a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish to David Perez. The interview I heard today on KPBS as well as the article written in the Solana Beach Sun prompted me to send this note. The following lyrics were put forth to the tune of "With a Song in my Heart" and sung last September 22nd at the Solana Beach Community Singalong..

" With great pain in our hearts, we beheld nature`s fearsome embrace,
Just a threat at the start, a monster hurricane brought up the sea.
As the wind did swell she clung to his hand,
She knew he was standing there, and
With the sound of a roar, water rose as they never did see,
Rooftops fell and they knew, that the life they had lived could not be..
But to carry on, to again be free
Hope turns pain into songs for thee."

Much pain was turned into hope with action. Thank you David Perez.

Respectfully,

Lynn Salsberg

I want to thank you for the cases of water you send down to us a few days ago! They came at one of those times when we were out of water, and were not sure what to do, and as is so often been the case: water appears, out of the eather, from folks like you.

Thank you so so much, I look forward to the day when the water trucks will do away with our dependence on bottled water! very exciting!

Dear Mr. Perez,

Wow, you are awesome! I had the pleasure of seeing your humanitarian efforts on the news this morning! I would challenge other CEO’s and their corporations to do the same.

David,

I just saw and heard your telephone message on the news. Never have I had so much respect for a CEO as I have for you. Thank you sooo much for what you are doing for the hurricane victims. I am a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and I tell you this country is a better place just KNOWING that people such as yourself actually exist. And to think, you are in the OIL production business and you shamed all of your competitors for taking advantage of this terrible tragedy by raising gas prices. I don't know you, but I call you brother. Because of people like YOU, we will fight for this country. Because of people like yourself, I am PROUD to say I am an American.

I can't tell you how happy I am going to be able to go into work and talk about you and what you are doing. Words can't explain how grateful I am God touched your heart. I am not a hurricane Katrina victim, nor do I have family in New Orleans, but I am a concerned American just like yourself. I could go on and on thanking you, but I think you are getting what I am saying. I support you in every way and please continue to keep doing what you can. Hopefully others will understand that we as an American people bear this burden and cannot turn our heads away. GOD BLESS you man!!! I wish I was at the point where I could help you and match your $250,000 pledge, but knowing you are out there just really makes me proud to serve my country. Thanks again man.

Very Respectfully,

Kenyatta Craten

Mr. Perez

I saw the story regarding your wonderful help and kindness. Thank god for people like you.

I would like to help.

I am a student pharmacist, and I am very concerned about the elderly getting their medication in new orleans. I have seen numerous news clips concerning the deaths of elderly b/c they just don’t have their heart medication or insulin.

I am also concerned that with all the overcrowding of shelters, and with flu season coming upon us, those affected could be at risk for a flu outbreak, especially the elderly and the children

I do not know what to do. Volunteer relief teams will only take nurses or doctors, even though pharmacists are health professionals too. Is there anything that can be done?

Dear David,

I would like to applaud your efforts for helping my fellow countrymen. I'm a Louisiana native, at 26 yrs. old and living in Atlanta, I've found the means to donate $$ and clothing. It infuriates me to know many haven't even given it thought. My family lives in New Orleans and Lafayette, most of whom we've heard from, is safe. I'd just like to personally thank you for your efforts in New Orleans, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Mobile. Also, a HUGE thank you for challenging other CEO's in the US! Your efforts are not just felt along the Gulf Coast!!

May God Bless You,
D.

Mr. David Perez,

I just listened to you on my television and am relieved somebody finally spoke up. I am also relieved someone is finally stepping up. You are doing something nobody else has been willing to. You are spending your time, energy, and money to save the lives of people whom you have never met. It is a sad day in America. We are seeing the true colors of of this nation as a whole. There have been many times where people watching the television just hang and shake their heads with disbelief, sadness, and anger. Then there are a few voices that are heard, like yours, that make them look back up, and still hold on to some hope. I do not use the term "hero" lightly, but you are a hero to many people. We need more people like you in this world. I desperately wanted and still want to go down there. I am in a nursing program at a university and they contacted New Orleans. Unfortunately, they are not letting people into the city, so we are stuck doing fund raisers. I am a firefighter/EMT and I helped at ground zero after the attack. A few of us from the fire department drove there from Missouri, immediately after the second plane hit. I was hoping to take part in rescue, to make a difference, but as soon as we arrived, we realized that it was only going to be a recovery mission. You on the other hand, get to make a difference to the living. I'm sure you will get countless thank you's from all of the people you will help, but I just wanted you to know, that someone far away, someone who will not gain nor lose anything from your kind actions, wants to say thank you. There is a special place for you in Heaven and in everyone's hearts who listened to your words and witnessed your actions. Thank you, and God bless you.

Sincerely,
Sonia Galindo

God Bless You!

I heard your heart wrenching voice on The Donny Deustch show tonight and you are truly one beautiful angel to all those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina.

You are a CEO of a company and you could not stand by while so many people did not have any assistance (it looked more like a Third World Country) and you decided to help!!

Yes, where is the Bill Gates, Donald Trumps, and all the millionaires/billionaires? These southerners affected are little people like myself and they need our help!

I am a mother of two sick children and I wish I could hit the Mega Millions Lottery because I would donate this money to your organization because you are getting something done.  (All I have heard these past eight days is talk, talk, talk.  You must walk the walk and sir, you have done it.

You are truly an angel who is doing something for our fellow human beings!

Mr. Perez,

I just watched you on the TV news and am proud of your efforts and of what you are doing. You are correct about all the agencies wanting us to contact the Red Cross.

I don't have the money to donate but I have time and lots of talent for getting things done and have great skills at organizing things. I have organized the local radio stations and TV to offer aid for the Dream Center here in Jackson, TN we were supposed to house several of the victims, we can take some of the victims here in Jackson we are ready and waiting to help.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you and your plans to help save some of the people, I will help you organize or help in any way that I can.
I don't have money as I said but have been blessed with a strong personality and the ability to get things done.

Thank you and God bless you richly,

Hello Mr. Perez,

First, I would like to say how wonderful you are for doing all that you have. Your truly an angel.

I am a stay at home mother who is collecting donations of baby items, maternity clothes, women's clothing and toddler/kids items. We have our playgroup as well as people in Los Angeles donating.

I would like to know if on your next trip I can be of some help. Maybe take some of our donations. We are helping The Women's Hope Center in Denham Springs, LA (FedEx/ UPS packages) but would like to help in other areas. We understand the bureaucracy and would like to know the items reach people in a timely manner.

Regards,
Louise Barilli

Mr. Perez,

I want to personally thank you for what you have done for the citizens of the United States. I met some of the evacuees and I think you did a great thing by bringing them to San Diego. I was so troubled to see the suffering of so many in New Orleans on television and yet nothing really happening fast enough to save human lives. I have family in Louisiana and I called them to make sure they were okay, if they could go to the convention center and help as much as they could. It was so devastating to see people die of dehydration. I tried my best to find someone that would help. I wrote Oprah Winfrey online and never heard back. I felt like someone needed to do something. Something more than just donating money to charity...we needed a hero to step up to the plate. You were that hero.

I volunteered my time this labor day weekend, talked with some of the individuals and help locally the best I could. Some are just devastated by loosing love ones and loosing their homes. Many don't know if their families are alive or dead. I want to thank you so much for bringing them to America's Finest City, showing them our beautiful beaches and making our American Citizens feel at home. You are truly an angel.

God Bless You!

A. Barnes

Dear Mr. Perez,

May the angels bless you for your generous help for victims of the hurricane. In the midst of all the bleakness and the too-little-too-late action of our own government, you have shown that one person can make a difference.

Thank you!

Mr. Perez,

I listen to you on television last night. I wanted to tell you how much I respect you. I live in Jackson, MS and received minor damage in the storm. My heart aches for my fellow Mississippians and fellow neighbors of Louisiana. I have watched hours of coverage and your comments were so moving to me that I burst into tears. I have two small BBQ restaurants in Jackson, MS, and wish I could afford to pack up and go to the gulf coast and cook, help, or in some way provide for my fellow Mississippians. I applauded your voice for our fellow Americans in MS. I am a small fish in the vast place we call the United States, but if I can help you in any way my friend....just ask! God Bless you and your efforts. You have made an impression in MS and La and we will never forget you.

It was a pleasure speaking with you once again tonight. Hi David,

I hope my message finds you well. I wanted to reach out to you and let you know that you really inspired the viewers of the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. We have received tons of viewer email from men, women and families that want to help. Donny would love the chance to speak with you on the program once more, in fact tomorrow (Thursday). We could arrange for a satellite where ever you are.

I know the phone reception is not good down there, but if you have a way of call me at 917 / 577.81XX that would be great. We can also correspond via email to make arrangements for Thursday.

Thank you very much.

Hi Mr. Perez,

Last night I was watching and listening to one of the TV network stations, I think it was MSNBC to hear the latest news regarding the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi, especially the devastation and evacuation of thousands of displaced people in New Orleans to other locations. It was extremely enlightening to hear that a CEO of a company was so touched by the problems that these displaced people are experiencing that he personally felt the need to respond. I can only imagine the reaction of the flight company, when you actually wired money to charter a 737 jet. Miracles are still happening! Anyway, I wanted to thank you for all that you have done and hopefully will continue to do. I was delighted to hear the passion in your voice and your commitment to do what you can to help alleviate the suffering of so many American citizens. I must tell you that your comment regarding other CEO's and company executives to step up to the plate was most heartwarming and necessary. It will be interesting to see if Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and others will open their hearts and wallets to help their neighbors, who happen to be Americans too. I don't know your beliefs, but you are a true Samaritan. I wanted to thank you and if ever you are in the Alexandria, Virginia area, you have a welcome invitation to come and share a meal with a grateful woman, who loves your honesty, integrity and love of people. God bless you.
Thank you ever so much,
Barbara

Dear Mr. Perez,

I just watched an interview on CNBC tonight and I was compelled to research your company and found this email link.

As a result of watching your interview, I am also compelled to write to you and commend you for your actions regarding the relief efforts you are attempting for all of the Hurricane Katrina victims.

Without any doubt in my mind, you and your company are clearly the leaders in this relief effort, bare none. Out of all the corporate efforts I have observed and been privy to via the news media, you and your company stand out, in my opinion, exceedingly far above the rest.

With that being said, I want to say that I have struggled for days now on how I can be of help to this disastrous situation taking place in the Gulf region. After seeing your interview tonight, I had an idea of how I could help.

Wanting to place my efforts where they could be most effective, I want to take this opportunity to offer my assistance to you and/or your company, in your recovery efforts. I am not looking for a job with your company. I am not seeking financial repayment for any of my services. I just want to be a part of an organization that is being effective, pro-active, involved, instrumental, and determined to assist those truly in need at this horrific time of tragedy taking place in our country.

I have an outstanding set of business skill sets, including but not limited to, my key and primary skill of organizational abilities. I would more than willing to apply my skills and hard working ethic to any and all of you current efforts. Please feel free to have one of your representatives contact me if I can be or any assistance.

With the Warmest Regards and Admiration,

I am sending this message again, in case you did not receive the first time due to, I'm sure, a high volume of emails regarding your rescue mission.

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded.." Luke 12:48b

Thank you for showing God's word in action. Peace to you and your family.

Hi Mr. Perez,

I've been following the good deeds that you've been doing for thesurvivors of Hurricane Katrina and decided to add on to it. As a young, African American Sailor with limited time to provide to those who reallyneed assistance that I purged all my home and have a lot of new and gently used that have been washed and folded for a young lady sized 1/2/3 along with infant/toddler items and toys/stuffed animals. There are several agencies that I could donate everything to but I think it would be better to pass along to my brothers and sisters who lost everything they knew, loved and owned. Please let me know how I can get said items to those in need. I can be reached at the email and numbers below as well as at buttafly71182@yahoo.com or 619-994-1253. Thank you
for your time and may God bless you and your family

Dear  David,

As I dropped my daughter off for kindergarten today at SDJA the stories were all around regarding your heroic charitable efforts on behalf of the gulf victims. It’s a source of pride for the entire community. I am a lawyer and your next door neighbor at 12230 El Camino Real (Suite 230). I am no financial heavyweight, but if I may support your efforts using my 27 years of legal experience to help in strategizing or with some law related details please do not hesitate to permit me to assist your efforts.

Thank you,

Mr. Perez,

I was so touched after reading about your generosity and how you helped so many people over the weekend. So many times I think about all of the good deeds I meant to do but some how let them slip away, your act is in an inspiration to me and my family. God bless you, you're a good person and give me faith in humanity.

David,

We are so proud of you! May all you do come back to you 10 fold!

Dear Mr. Perez,

Thank you so much for making it possible for Darnella to attend her Grandmothers funeral! Just knowing that she will be able to attend is already lifting Darnella's heavy heart during this difficult time. May God always bless you and your family for the genuine love and kindness you show toward others. People that you don't even know. It's incredible.

Please see the information below about Darnella and her particular need. Girl Scouts truly appreciate you.

Kind regards,

Congratulations! Just wanted to say "GOD BLESS YOU" on ALL you've done for the victims of Katrina. (Planes chartered, supplies, and the people you put on the planes)

I am amazed at what one person could do. I wish I could do what you've done. My situation is different. My husband and I, live check to check and dont come nowhere near having money to give out. I wish that we did, because we'd be just like you. I sit in front of the t.v. day in and day out with a knot in my throat!

I cried listening to you on the t.v. tonight reaching out to the gas stations, chain stores, ' WOW ', you have one great heart and I know God has a special place for you!!

THANK YOU, even if I'm not a victim of New Orleans, Mississippi or Alabama. I'm from Miami, Florida where Katrina hit, but did not harm us in anyway but down trees and fences. No big deal! We were blessed!

AGAIN, I want to say "GOD BLESS YOU - DAVID PEREZ!!!" Im sure the world is soooo proud of you!

Amazed in Miami!!!

Dear Mr. Perez,

I was so moved by your efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, that I felt compelled to write to you. Amid all the reports of devastation, there are also stories like yours of people who reach out to others who have lost all hope.

I'm sure it would have been easier for you to simply cut a check but you did not. You allowed people with nothing left and little faith to know that there are people out there who care. I'm sure that these people would agree, thank you seems so insignificant!

May God continue to bless you!

Best Regards,
Ari Medecki

Hi David,

My name is A. Holley, I live here in San Diego and like you I have been very moved by the tradegy and aftermath of Katrina.  I need to start by telling you how wonderful you are and how tremendous your efforts have been.  To think you flew out there on your own in a copter to find people and help - is absolutely amazing.  I wish I was in a financial situation to assist on the level that you are, but maybe I can help in my own way.  I live by myself in Mission Valley in a two bedroom condo; I am willing to offer my extra bedroom as a temporary refuge for evacuees of the gulf coast.  Would this help you?  Is there something I can do to volunteer my time to help in some other way? I truly want to help. Thank you again and again.
Best,
A.

You are a gift to human kind and an example to us all!  God bless you David!

Anna Foster

David,

I saw you on Donny Deutch this morning, & I would love to help you in any way possible. I don't have millions of dollars or truck loads of supplies. But, I can offer you physical help by assisting you in Mississippi. I am a 41 year old women who has contacted everyone in an effort to volunteer. I have heard nothing from anyone. Do you need more people to come there to help you? I will go where ever I am needed, I just want to know that I am not going to end up like our local firemen in Chicago.....they drove all the way down there & then they  (FEMA) had them handing out flyers to people & would not use them with their skills. I trust that if I come there or go to Houston, or where ever you need me to go, that you will utilize my skills as a counselor/life coach. Or you will let me join in assembly lines to help with passing out food/water/medicine whatever......

God bless you for all that you are doing. You are what America is all about. I am crying as I write this because your such an angel. Thank you for all that you have done.

Dear Mr. Perez,

I just heard your telephone interview on CNBC and I immediately reached for my valet. Even though I have already donated through Red Cross, I was touched by your story and I just had to respond again. I also posted your story on my BLOG urging others to donate and help in any way possible. I want to thank you once again for your extraordinary efforts and I hope there will be many more countless emails like mine.

Thank you.

David,

You most likely won't get this for a while, but I hope letters like these pour tenfold into your mailbox for a lifetime.  What you are doing for our Americans should be so copy-catted and widespread that I should not even know your name.

There should be so many, from government officials to fellow man, helping to ice down the hell that the South has endured.  You should not stick out as one of the few helping many, but should blend in as one of the many helping few.  Nevertheless (and long-winded, I apologize), please let me know what you need and where you need it.

I live in Northern California, and I have been giving via Hilton, United, to help people travel, plus $ donations, etc., but please let me know what else I can do, what else you need.

I am unaware of your religious status, regardless, I pray for you and everyone involved in this challenge and opportunity God has set before us.

YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Regards,

Angela Rosenquist

May God always bless you, Mr. Perez.  I read about how you took it upon yourself to fly in and rescue so many people.  And at huge cost to yourself.  You are the salt of the earth - which is more than we can say for the head of FEMA et al.

I live way up here on the border with Canada in NW Washington State but obviously millions of people have now read about what you did.  Bravo, a million times, to you.  You are one excellent human being.

Hi Mr. Perez,
Last night I was watching and listening to one of the TV network stations, I think it was MSNBC to hear the latest news regarding the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi, especially the devastation and evacuation of thousands of displaced people in New Orleans to other locations.

Barbara

Dear Mr. Perez,
I was so impressed at the way you opened your heart (and wallet) to the people of the gulf coast that I thought I would write and ask if there is some way I could help by taking in children either orphaned or separated from their parents by the disaster. I am not in California, I am in the Dallas, TX area. I have not been able to contact any of the state agencies, although I have left messages with all of them. I am afraid that "red tape" is going to keep the children out of caring homes for some time. I am frustrated and truly want to help.

I am a 49 year old mother of a wonderful 26 year old son, who of course is no longer at home. I work at home and would be available to a child or children 24 hours a day. I have references, including one from a prominent Dallas pediatrician, whose child I cared for years ago.  I would prefer to care for infants and young children. My husband and I are not wealthy but can certainly provide food, shelter, clothing, beds and toys for 1-4 infants and/or toddlers. Is there any way you can help? I am more than willing to take in children and help look for their parents while providing them with loving care while families are being located. I would so much appreciate your help, if possible.

Sincerely,
Barb Moore

Dear Mr. Perez:

Thank you for getting some supplies and assistance to the victims of this disaster!

Would you consider a sabbatical from Surge Global to head up FEMA?

Thanks again,

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that you are my hero. I have seen you on television helping the evacuees. I am the same age as you and all I can do is donate what money I have and supplies to the local organization helping those who have evacuated here to Kentucky. Thank you for being the outstanding person that you are. It really warmed my heart that you were able--and did--help all the people that you could.  You are such an inspiration.
God Bless You.

Dear Mr. Perez,

I read about you on ABC online.  What a wonderful person you are!  You did what our government failed to do. People died needlessly because of our government.

God bless you!  It's difficult to say that I am an American in times like this.  You make me proud that I am an American.

Thank you.

Dear Mr Perez:
I just watched a video clip on NBC which covered your efforts. I thank you for stepping up to the plate. I'm frustrated with current airline CEO's that did not take at least ONE of their planes off line and dedicate it to the victims of Katrina. We are a start-up airline in the funding stage, so with no planes we sent a check.  Again, thank you for not sitting around waiting to see what other would do.
God Bless you and your family.

Mr. Perez:
I have a contact who owns a multi-million construction company which is willing to provide  hundreds of jobs for the people who wish them.  I am willing to be a conduit if necessary.  Thank you  for giving so much inspiration to those you flew in and  the rest of  San  Diego.   I spent yesterday morning talking to those at Kearney High and you have given them back their faith and dignity.... Dear Mr. Perez,
Big thank you's to you for all your assistance with the Katrina disaster.  Our school, Boulder Oaks Elementry School, in Alpine, C.A, has had a coin drive and has raised over $1,500 in just two days!!
Our coin drive will last for the rest of this week and we are very, very
eager to donate our money to a family or families that you have flown to our wonderful city of San Diego...

Thank you,
D. Casey

I heard you on Ed Schulz' show today and you are the relief orginization that I have been looking for.  I have hesitated to donate to any organized fund for fear that the money would not be sent directly to the victims.  But I am prepared to solicit any business that I can in Los Angeles.  Just tell me what to do.  If I can get medicine and food,  how to I get it distributed? I collected tons of clothing (used) but could find no way to get it to the victims.

Thank you and God Bless You.

David,

You have truly inspired me and my family to donate supplies and money to Stargazer to help these Americans Citizens. Your appearance on CNBC a few days ago showed me the value of direct and competent actions by true leaders with true integrity. The things you do are clearly making the world a better place for all.

Thank you

Dear Mr. Perez,

Thank God for you and your efforts to save hurricane victims.  Once they settle in, I would like to take part in an effort to provide pet therapy for the victims or at least the children.  I went through cancer treatments last year, and my dog got me through it.  Nothing heals you faster than another being who is innocent and vulnerable.

I am a volunteer at the County Animal Shelter.  The powers that be would probably allow such a thing to be set up using their animals.  I can devote whatever time is needed to see it through.  The animals could be brought to the victims or the victims could be brought to the shelter.  I'm confident that my fellow church members (LDS) and fellow shelter volunteers would help.  It might provide a break for the parents of children who are at the end of their rope and struggling to cope with the children.  I was a single mother for years, and I know you can have a meltdown while struggling to deal with it all.

Mars is the staff behaviorist who is good at recommending which dogs should be around children.  There are cats and rabbits and various reptiles.  Keep me in mind for when the dust settles.  I'd love to help out.  The animals need the victims as much as the victims need them.  It's a perfect match.

Thank for reading.

Sincerely,

 M. Santa Cruz

It is awesome what you are doing for the Katrina victims.  You are a perfect example of the power of giving.  Please know that San Diego is here with welcoming arms for the victims you are bringing back.  God Bless you in your travels to the hurricane region.

Hello David -

My name is C. Templeton and I'm with Remax Professionals in Roseville, California (Sacramento). I saw your interview on CNN tonight and I was so impressed! I told my family that if I was in a financial position I would've chartered planes and reserved hotels to house the poor Americans (not refuges!!!) and move them out of New Orleans, etc.

Anyway, I will pass the word of your relief efforts and also the relief fund.

We are in the process of collecting items you have requested on your website and also nice clothes/shoes, etc.
I will contact everyone I know.  If I can be of any help at all please contact me - I would be happy to travel to disburse donations, whatever I can do - this is a tragedy.

Thanks so much for your compassion - this gives me hope.

C. Templeton
