Surge Global Energy - Chairman & COO Interview

Neil Cavuto
8 September 2005
Fox News: Your World with Neil Cavuto

NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: All right, the effort to find people and to help people continues. My next guest flew to the rescue of hurricane victims, quite literally. California businessman David Perez charted a Boeing 737, flew over 80 people from Louisiana to San Diego on his dime.

He joins us now from Houston.

David, what`s the latest you can tell me on the progress you are making?

DAVID PEREZ, CHAIRMAN & COO, SURGE GLOBAL ENERGY: We have done a lot, thanks to the good people of this country.

My prayers are with all the families who have had to suffer through this disaster, this most horrific, most horrific tragedy that has ever come -- been bestowed upon our country. And everybody has come together. And we had chartered a few more jets. There`s another -- there`s another 80 people on their way to San Diego and to Los Angeles today. And...

CAVUTO: Ask what is their connection to either city? Do they want to start anew there? Or do they have relatives, friends, what?

PEREZ: Some of the people lost everything and have no family. Some people want to start anew. And some people are just looking for temporary shelter right now, because they don`t want to be in the tent cities.

(CROSSTALK)

CAVUTO: So, where -- where are they going once they arrive there?

PEREZ: The Red Cross -- we`re working with the American Red Cross and the Department of Homeland Security. They are being processed by the Red Cross. And they are being put into a -- for one night, they are being put into a processing center, like a high school.

Or, right now, they have moved everything to the college, one of the colleges. And they are getting medicine. They are getting doctors. They are getting, you know, a clean bill of health. And anybody who had prescriptions, that need prescription, they are getting -- they are getting -- they are getting their meds. And then they`re putting them up in a hotel for one to two weeks. It depends on the capacity. So far, San Diego has received over 280 rescuees.

CAVUTO: Wow.

PEREZ: And there`s more on their way.

CAVUTO: David, good work. Keep it up, my friend. Thank you very much, David Perez.
